MEET STACIA

Stacia is currently provides expressive arts services in Humarock, MA. She is passionate about helping kids and community members better connect with themselves through different expressive arts modalities. She has spent her entire adult life and much of her adolescence working to help others, and now applies her degree in Expressive Arts Therapy to empower individuals to connect, create, and regulate to improve wellbeing.

Stacia received her Master’s in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University in 2018. While getting her Masters, Stacia enriched her experience by interning at several different health facilities across Massachusetts, including Paraclete Academy in Boston, McLean-Franciscan Children & Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Unit One in Brighton. At the inpatient clinic, Stacia found a particular passion for providing mental health support for children and adolescent patients and picked up extra hours whenever she could. One of her most rewarding experiences was creating and displaying a colorful mural with patients to increase a sense of belonging and reminding them just how important mental health and utilizing expressive modalities can be to grow, thrive and BELONG.

Prior to starting her master’s program, Stacia worked as the Director of Adoptions & Family Relations at the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, a non-profit that connects children living with cancer to college sports teams that “adopt” them as a member of their team. This model proved to have enormous benefits for participating children and their families by connecting them with an entirely new community of love, support, friendship, and belonging. It was here where Stacia, working as a coordinator between children’s families and college sports teams, witnessed first hand the immense benefits that connection and regulation skills could have on children grappling with the complex physical, mental, and emotional stresses.

It's difficult to overstate the impact that working with children with pediatric cancers had on Stacia. In fact, Stacia was first connected with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation while volunteering at the Magical Moon Farm & Foundation in Marshfield, MA. Stacia volunteered at the Foundation consistently for over ten years, working to maintain relationships with kiddos and families who came to the Foundation for support. As an adolescent, she particularly loved leading and helping with workshops that guided kids through crafts or creative arts activities.

Stacia received her Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and a minor in Kinesiology from the University of New Hampshire in 2013.
