Shibori by the Sea: Indigo Dye a Throw Pillow
Date: Thursday, July 23rd | 4:00pm–7:00pm
Investment: $185
Join Isabel and Roy Durgin in creating a set of throw pillows with an evening of indigo, texture, and slow coastal creativity. Rooted in the calming rhythm of the sea, this workshop invites you to explore Shibori — a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, sewing, binding, and shaping fabric before immersing it in rich indigo dye to reveal beautifully organic patterns.
Using techniques such as running stitch resist, wood blocks, and elastic binding, you will create your own one-of-a-kind pillow cover inspired by tides, currents, and the natural movement of water. Once your fabric is prepared, we will gather around a deep indigo vat and watch the magic unfold as the cloth transforms into layered oceanic blues.
This gathering is designed to feel grounding, tactile, and gently creative an opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, and connect through the artistry of natural dyeing. All materials are provided, including your throw pillow insert.
